Mobility & Movement

Woollam Park will have excellent bus, cycle and pedestrian links to the city centre and key employment and service destinations across the city. An ‘on your doorstep’ approach to travel has been adopted based on the 20-minute neighbourhood.
The local centre and Primary School will be within a maximum 10 minute walk for all residents living in Woollam Park.

A Mobility hub will be in the Local Centre and will provide a range of facilities including a bus stop with live information on public transport, secure cycle parking, bicycle hire, e-bikes, EV car charging and car club spaces.
There is an aspiration to provide a new bus route, routed off Harpenden Road through the Local Centre and Mobility Hub. This would provide frequent services to and from St Albans City centre as well as other locations.
New cycling infrastructure will be provided within the site and along key corridors at Valley Road and Harpenden Road, integrating with the National cycle Network. Part of Sandridgebury Road could be repurposed as an ‘active travel corridor’ for walking and cycling through the centre of the site.
A network of pedestrian footways will link with the existing urban realm and a new bridleway will be created to link to the Hertfordshire Way and Heartwood Forest. Woollam Park will be the new northern gateway into St Albans, creating a welcoming, attractive and spatially diverse environment.
